Dr. Marisa Mizus

Dr. Mizus earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Washington University in St. Louis and a Medical Degree from New York University School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She subsequently went on to complete a Research Fellowship in Vascular Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania while simultaneously earning a Masters of Science in Translational Research from Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed a Fellowship in Rheumatology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 2020.
During her Rheumatology Fellowship, she investigated cardiovascular complications of autoimmune diseases with a special focus on lupus, idiopathic inflammatory myopathies, and spondyloarthropathies.
Prior to joining Falls Medical Specialists, she practiced in the Division of Rheumatology at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Mizus is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Throughout her medical career, she has demonstrated a passion for patient care, informed by her clinical and research experiences.
Dr. Mizus maintains an ongoing collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Division of Rheumatology, contributing to a range of research initiatives while mentoring and teaching aspiring medical professionals. She is actively involved with the Arthritis Foundation of Maryland and the Lupus Foundation, and is a proud member of the American College of Rheumatology. Recently, Dr. Mizus has taken on new leadership roles as Co-President of the Maryland Society of Rheumatic Diseases and as the Maryland Chapter Leader of the Association of Women in Rheumatology.
